All in one vs. multiple pedals

Re: All in one vs. multiple pedals

Well depends how much you need. I have a simple rig:

Laney GH50L with the gain set for my crunch
then wah, tuner, bluesdriver and SD pup booster infront of it. I use the volume on my guitar for cleans etc.

Thats my rig though, and simple pedals was the choice most suitable. If you are gonna need zillions of effects then a multi-effect is the way to go

Good luck

Re: All in one vs. multiple pedals

Im not doing much recording so im looking for a setup with minimal
hassle, I do a bit of vocals so clicking a bunch of pedals while playing and singing is just too much.
Any opinions on this from others in the same position?

Your feedback has been very helpfull, ive learned quite a few things in the 2 days ive been reading this forum, what a wealth of info, this forum rocks, thnx to those who make it this way.:friday:

There's also the guitar-to-clean-amp-plus-attenuator school which I rather like.

Sorry, hate to hog the thread, but, uhm, you can always get an acoustic and sing along like they used to. Nothing wrong with that eh ?

Re: All in one vs. multiple pedals

check out the boss gt-8 for a ton of options and great effects, or the lower prioced ME50...they have enough sounds in both of those to keep you busy for awhile.

True, but what I don't like about the ME-50 is that you can only use it in front of your amp OR in the FX-loop, instead of both at the same time, like the GT-8. This means you'd either be confined to using only modulation FX in the FX-loop, or have the full potential of the ME-50 but with the need to use your amp's clean tone. They should have added an external loop on the ME-50, like the GT's have. On the GT-8, you can just setup the signal chain to your liking, change the order of FX and the position of the loop in the signal chain, which I think is really awesome. Or rather, a necessity!

Re: All in one vs. multiple pedals

yes, this is true...but actually, i have never run delay in my effects loop...it is always in front of the amp. i guess almost all classic delay sounds were done this way, from Hendrix, Page, Fripp, EVH..
i currently use a GTPro, which has loops in it, so you could patch it in anywhere you wanted.
