All my SD HUMbuckers are HUMMING!?

Hi,

I own a Jackson SL2H BGF that came factory equipped with SH4 and SH1 HUMbuckers. Unfortunately I noticed that these HUMbuckers produce a distinct HUM when connected to everything especially to a tube amp. When both of them are connected /3 way switch in mid position/ most of the HUM is gone but I'm using mostly only the bridge 'bucker. The internal wiring is according to the schematic provided on this site. These HUMbuckers produce the same HUM when mounted on different guitars as well. A separately purchased TB4 by a friend produced the same results on his guitar and amps.
Recently I bought a Screamin Demon to replace the stock TB4 and along with the great tone I got THE HUM as well.
In the same time several $200 junk guitars I tried produce no HUM whatsoever when connected to my amps.
My question is : Are all SD HUMbuckers producing the same HUM and is this the price to pay for a good tone or I'm missing something here and/or my HUMbuckers need some tweaking or something?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

probably something wrong with the wiring. all of my guitars with duncans never hum.

At my apartment some guitars I've worked on hum and some don't, even tho they're wired the same and dont hum at other locations.

Re: All my SD HUMbuckers are HUMMING!?

tube amps tend to hum a little bit, but if wired properly the duncans shouldnt be noisy

The question is how to wire them properly? What combinations to try?
Actually walking around in the room changes the level of hum but it's still annoyingly there.

Gear: Custom built Soldano type 100W tube head + 2x12" Celestion loaded cab
Custom built Mesa DR combo + 12" Celestion

Thank you for the quick answers!

When you take your hands off the strings does the hum increase or is there any change? Your pickups should be grounded to your bridge so that when your hands are on the strings the hum decreases. Other than that, I don't know what to suggest. It's a pity they don't make amps like they used to: we used to be able to flip the ground or remove the plug from the wall and flip it over. No longer tho. Altho my old amps all still have the original two prong plugs and functional ground switch. Very helpful in the studio! Lew

no offence buddy, but I think its clear either you did something wrong or the pups came eff'd right from the start :smack: . I have a mexican strat with SH4 and cool rails and neither of them hum... so yeah, Jackson didnt send u good ones! Also it could just be ur house, cuz in MY basement my pups dont hum at all, but in my drummer's basement they never shut up. And then its how ur positioned relative to the amp. I find they dont hum at all if ur standing in front of your amp no matter where you are.
