its me again, my wife to my surprise, bought me a used gibson 335 and it was in new like condition. i have a wonderful wife as you can see. iam a bless man. any way someone with a different ear then mine put emgs in it, an 81 in the bridge and a 85 in the neck. i found out that it had classic gibson 57s neck and bridge. i want to stay really close to that sound. i have a ROLAND JC 120 iam going to use for this guitar. i want this guitar to play chet adkins style, 40s swing and rockabilliy so iam thinking about going with a set of 59s would this be a good idea. my other guitars i play southern rock and blues i use a 69 fender tele with a little 59 in the bridge and a SD in the neck but cant remember which one and a les paul gold top i dont know what year with seymour sp90-1 vintage. my main rig is the tele and my boogie lonestar, i use the les paul on and old marshall bluesbreaker combo. thats all i have left after my 40plus years playing my wife said either buy a bigger house, are get rid of some stuff. so i did and what i got left seymour is going to make worth keeping.

A pair of 59's would sound really nice in that 335.
Seth Lovers would sound so sweet too.
The ES-335 is such a cool guitar. You're lucky to have gotten one, and lucky to have the lady who got it for you.

Most definatly a keeper! Congrats! I would love to have a 335 some day. BTW-I think either of the mentionings would be great in that guitar or some antiquities. I also think that guitar would sound incredible through the Bluesbreaker or the Lonestar as well. Great amps to go with great guitars!

+1. '59's will give a bright vintage tone that will be good for what you're playing. Actually, excellent in a 335 for almost anything.

Does your wife have any sisters?

A 335 with a moderate output pu (and maybe flatwounds) gets you in Bradley's Barn---the guitar of choice for late 50s-60s Nashville. Roy Clark did some early rockabilly on one...for western swing, I kinda go more for a bigger box than a 335 though.
