im going to be playing a show on friday and need to know the mode of pentatonic that ABB uses. I know they switch moods from major to minor occasionally, but im pretty sure sure duane and ****ey had a hot spot mode for those licks?

Thanks alot everybody!!! Now time to get jammin on the backing tracks with the dorian. I'd like to start exploring the different modes, i know em all, but i just want to build up more comfort in the others besides major and minor pentatonic and the diatonics.

I recognize what your talking about, its something I do sometimes but don't really know...um, what it is? Does anyone have any links to a site that could explain that kind of thing in none latin/and or greek terms. I really need to get a teacher for this stuff! I know your basic full neck pentatonic scale, and major and thats about it!

well, the bro's use the major and minor scales a lot, sometimesswitch back and forth durring solo's.

also, a read an interview with duane where he said that he and ****ey would noramlly litterally improvise live and in the studio. by that i mean not stick to scales and the suck, just whatever sounded good.

:laugh2: I figured they would have that out look, thats pretty much my knowledge of things as well, although I would like to read into some of it a little to see what its about. Of course I am no where near the kind of player those guys were/are, Duane's slide playing has always inspired me because everytime I play slide I have a really hard time comming up with good and unique sounding phrases and he was just phenomenal at it.

he sure was. even if you know the licks, its just as hard or harder to nail the feel and touch
