When I had the Duncan Antiquity Surfers I had another guitar with fat 50's. For mine the Fat 50's had more of the chime that I wanted from a Fender, and the Ant's were more subdued and thicker. You could probably get the same result from a set of ssl 1's.....but you are going the other way in wanting less of the openness/bite/sting and a bit more thickness.
