Alnico 6 magnets – full, fat, and ballsy

This is interesting. I’ve got a custom 8 in an HH Jaguar that I’ve been thinking about doing something with. I’m fairly happy with the EQ curve and output, but there’s a stiffness to the A8 that gets a little old if I play it for too long. I didn’t want to try an A5, because I thought it would scoop out the mids too much, and I found the A5 pickups I’ve tried in this guitar to be honky in the upper mids. How much of an EQ change would there be from an A8 to an A6?

So it sounds like an A5 with more mids? That's sounds like what I'm looking for I love the A5 sound but it needs more mids! Is that what I'm getting from it?

A6 is a lot different than A8. It doesn't have that stiffness. It's a good option.

Yes. It responds the same as A5 with round bass and crisp overall. The difference is it has soft mids and slightly less top.

BKP fan recommended true grit neckas a nice poor mans Black Dog. As the BD comes with RCA5, I tried it with RCA6 and enjoyed it in my bridge LP. Going to back to the old trusted UOA5 (just opened another 5 pack...what do I do with this collection of polished A5s? ) to compare.

Perhaps put the RCA6 in my PB? It was in my LP but I have so much testing I want to do.
