Just bought a pair off ebay. I'm not at familiar with these and was
wondering what existing pickups might benefit from this mag swap?

Cheers, Will

Got a heap of SD Pickups, Custom, JB's, etc....

These magnets are really rough cast and I just don't know what to do with them.

Stick em in some pickups and see how they sound. My JB8 is loud and tight and full of harmonics and actually hotter than my Invader bridge..

Re: ALNICO 8's

Thanks gents. Will definitely do a JB8 in an R4 Levinson Blade I have
but what will a Custom 8 be like? I've not heard the original with the ceramic mag.

Re: ALNICO 8's

A8 was too over-the-top for me in a JB. Its interesting in a Custom. I just installed a custom 8 back into a H/S Tele. I think I like it better than the regular custom or the Custom 5. Its not my favorite pickup though. Its not as extreme as the C5 or CustomCustom in a particular EQ direction, but I think that is why I find it a little boring.

Re: ALNICO 8's

The Custom8 is currently my favorite go to pickup. IMO, has a very similar tonal spectrum of the regular Custom, but adds some warmth and soul. I find it very expressive and goes well in a variety of guitars.. I have one in my Explorer, Charvel, Washburn MG130 (set neck) and couple others I cant think of right now.

Depending on what you're playing, practically any bridge p'up.

My favorite is the '59b, then the Custom and '59/Custom Hybrid. To be paired with an A4 PAFish neck p'up.
