Alnico II pro and JB, anyone tried it?

Ima big Slash fan hence the fascination with the Alnico II pro (for the neck at least). Im also a big JB fan..just wondering if this 2 would be a suitable pair...ala 59/JB or Jazz/JB...Im a little concern about the output balance since from what i understand the Alnicos are relatively low output vs. the relatively high output of the JB...so if anyone has tried this combo before or has opinions on it, i sure would appreciate the feedback! :beerchug:

Re: Alnico II pro and JB, anyone tried it?

lead guitarist in my band uses this combo in a fernandes super grade (80's mij les paul copy)..... for Slash tones it rocks.... the jb has a little more output than the a2, but he balances this out with a volume pedal...

That is the combo that comes in most Brian Moore guitars. Nice pickup set. I personally prefer the CC in the bridge but hey....thats just one guy.

welcome to the board

thread about this exactly within the last two or three weeks - do a search to find and read it

i have it in my brian moore and love it - very versatile, especially with a p-type 5-way megaswitch

I'm sure it would be, but I haven't tried it. The Custom and the Custom Custom have approximately a similar output, right? And I love the CC/APH combo. So I'm guessing this would work too.

Re: Alnico II pro and JB, anyone tried it?

What guitar are u thinking of putting them into anyway?
Anyway the jb/aph-1 would work out pretty well. not much of a volume loss when changing from jb to aph1. not noticable anyway.

Re: Alnico II pro and JB, anyone tried it?

For me it worked well, it was a very "diverse" combo. Three completely different tones out of one guitar. You know how a stock Tele has three tones, all similar, but different? This combo sounds nothing alike when you switch from neck to bridge. Great Slash neck tones and crunchy bridge rhythms and leads that stand out. I hated the JB clean though, I always went with the combo position for clean work. (That upper mid spike is brutal for cleans)
