Does anybody know what this sounds like? I'm thinking of switching the magnets in my Alnico II Pro and my JB.

I had one in a Strat as a neck pickup. I switched to the Alnico 5 and it Added a LOT of beef. It was still very clear and smooth though. But since it was in a Strat, it overpowered the other two single coils (that's right, no bridge humbucker in it) so I wired it up with a Spin-A-Split and life was grand.
If you're looking for more beef from your LP neck and a more modern-ish sound then go for it. If you're looking for vintage tone but just a bit more beef, I recommend trying Alnico 3 or 4 instead.
The JB comes with an Alnico 5 so I assume you are looking to put in a ceramic? If so, it's probably not a good idea since the JB is already pretty bright.

The APH with a A5 is probally very, very similar to a Jazz.

I've had 'em both with both magnets ways and no matter the magnet, the Jazz is very thin and bright (in a good way) while the A2P is pleasingly plump. They sound anything alike to me at all.

Hmmm...this talk of swapping neck magnets has me thinking:
I first had an A2 PGn, but it lacked hollowness. I changed it to an A5, and while it sounded better (nice woody tone), it lack some midrange oomph. So I ordered a Jazz neck. Not quite as bright as the A5 PG and with a little more midrange oomph, but not enough. What I really want is something in between the JazzN and PGn.
My problem with the Jazz (and A5 PG) is that it lacks mids and doesn't have enough body (when switching from the bridge for a solo). My problem with the standard A2 PGn is that it didn't have enough highs, and didn't quite cut through like the bridge humbuckers. Basically, I want something that has a similar frequency response as bridge humbuckers, but with the timbre of the neck position.
Am I asking too much?

Wow, the Pearly Gates didn't have enough treble for you? That's a fairly bright pickup considering the A2 magnet. If that didn't do it for you, I don't know what to recommend, other than maybe a '59. Not a ton of mids, but it might be a bit closer to what you're looking for.
