Re: Alnico II Pro's Rocking Out Heavy

Well, I recorded this earlier today but didn't have time to perfect it. I'm pretty sure there are only a few bum notes though so it's totally listenable. Just let me know if you're cool with this or not Jolly cuz I'll take it down if you don't like the idea of me singing on your track.

Into Hell's kitchen

In the pouring rain, where no man wants to be
It's common place to dream of warmer days

-chorus-
Yeah,
I enter hell's kitchen
and I take my fill while dancing in the flames.
Yeah,
I enter hell's kitchen
where I take shelter from the pouring rain.

Jump into the fire
and let it burn your soul
while these mindless zombies
live in daily toil
jump into the fire
where your troubles burn to nothing
and your soul becomes red hot, cuz it's modern life your shunning.

i just listened to your vocal version of Jolly's song...ok...here's my take...the "yeah" parts are just a bit odd for the song IMO...not bad, just don't seem to fit it that well i guess. your regular more gritty/angry singing fits it very well though...also where you go from one voice to the other (jump into the fire...to...where your troubles burn to nothing) works real well and has a creepy/cool vibe to it that jumped out to me right awy and is great...but for that last line (and your soul...) i'd go back to the other gritty/angry voice.

very good overall i'd just try the yells in another style...think hetfield or sully more anger less spandex :laugh2: , i think that kind of gritty "yeah" would fit better than the 80's style with Jolly's tune. but that may just be me.

nice work and good lyrics, hells kitchen seems to fit that song!

Haha, thanks for the input. Yeah, I think you're right- I should probably get rid of most of the high stuff. and I especially need to redo the parts where I went flat near the end of the song- my voice was kind of tired by that point to be honest. The only thing I don't agree with really is "and your soul" part mostly because I was proud of myself for pulling it off. I'm really more adept at metal growls than singing, but I've been forcing myself to learn lately so maybe with enough practice I can force my throat to do what I want :P

Re: Alnico II Pro's Rocking Out Heavy

Awesome sound, man. Very full and tasty. I've always been curious about the AP2's.

Wow! Really good, really good.

Do you actually prefer AIIPro to other pickups for this kind of music? Did you record it direct from the amp or via a mic?

How would you yourself, in your own words, compare AIIPro to other SD/? pups?

But, no matter what, great playing and great tone.

Thanks man!! I don't prefer the Alnico II Pros for this type of music. Really the only reason I recorded this with them was so people could hear what they sounded like doing something heavy. It was recorded direct. I would compare the Alnico II Pros to other SD pickups by saying, they're the warmest pickups I've ever played in my life. Thanks again!!

Aight, lets get to the heart of the issue here. Very good tone btw, but that's not what im interested in. What i wanna know is....

How were those clips recorded? What was used? Im particularly interested if it was PC recorded. What software? Sound card? Mic? Direct into sound card? The whole setup and process basically.

Now I'll tell you why I'm interested. Those were probably the most "finished" amature recordings I've ever heard, and by amature I just mean "not professionally done" and to be honest it sounds like it could have been. Please tell me they werent professionally done?

As for the playing, I dont hear john sykes at all. Listen to pride & glory and BLS and tell me if the riffs dont remind you of zakk wylde?

Wow, thanks man!! I recorded them with my Roland VS-1880. The guitars were recorded direct with my Line6 AX2/212. The bass was recorded with a Line6 Bass POD. The drums were a Boss DR-770. Thanks once again:)

Damn that was cool. Dude, are actually playing the drums or is that a machine? They don't sound bad at all.

The tone and playing was very good. That was some seriously bad ass tuneage!! Enjoyed it....

Thanks!! The drums are a Boss DR-770. I never learned how to program them. I play them in realtime like a real drum set.

Hey Jolly, would you mind if I recorded some vocals for this? I'm not very good but it would be good practice for me. I could do some ballsinvicegrip style 80's vocals and other power singing type styles. I'm bored...

Do what you want...I don't care:)

Re: Alnico II Pro's Rocking Out Heavy

I agree with XSSIVE about the vocals man. Think Layne Staley or Scott Weiland type vocals. Also, they really don't need to come in until about :34 secs...or whenever the chunk chunk thing comes in.

Thanks again everyone...I appreciate it!!!:)

Re: Alnico II Pro's Rocking Out Heavy

Haha, ok- I'll redo em sometime when I get a free moment. It's great practice.
