alnico II vs. AGED alnico II?

Re: alnico II vs. AGED alnico II?

I just had a pup made at UGD that has an aged A2, however it's in an overwound 9.2k bridge pickup, so I can't really compare it too much. Compared to my 8.43 standard APH (b) this pickup has more punch and articulation, but again I think it's because of the overwind.

The tones with an aged A2 are supposed to be just slightly rounder and warmer on all frequencies as compared to standard guass mags. Do you have a standard A2? You could just do a quick swap.

I'd be interested to hear your results. I could do it too, I'm just afraid of screwing up a $100 pickup. I've got an A2, A3 and A4 just taking up space on my refrigerator right now!

I ordered aged A2 but I think I ended up with a regular one. I also asked for a single conductor cable and got four conductor, but I really don't care.

I would think that aged magnets would just be slightly degaussed

Why would you order a single conductor cable one if you can have a more versatile 4 con cable one?

Took me long enough eh?

Tried last night. II is louder, fuller. Aged has more spank and an almost "acoustic" quality. Yeah.
