Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

Too many annoying "guess what it is" threads lately. I understand the excitement of getting new gear, but these kinds of threads are so hackneyed, especially the ones who make you go through the hassle of following it just to find out it's a Peavey Bandit or something. Post a review, pics, audio, video or something and include the specs so no one has to ask which version or model it is. It's to the point where it's juvenile and irritating. We need better threads in this forum.

I understand your frustration. I do however feel that you're taking it too personally. Let people have their fun, man.

To you it might be a peavey bandit, but to the thread owner it might be the best amp in the history of amps.

Eh, don't get me wrong. I'm not literally irritated, just mildly annoyed by it. However, it's my duty as a loyal forum member to help maintain the integrity of the forum. :)

Yeah well even if it's a $50,000 Dumble, I'd rather skip all the suspense crap and get to the meat of it.

Shut up. You've only been here since 2013. I'm getting old and reserve the right to gripe.

Jon is an excellent contributor to this forum. Time spent as a member has nothing to do with the validity of his opinions.

I'm 14 posts shy of you too. You need to be more authentic in your attention and care you give to this forum. Be more friendly too.

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

The Amplifier Forum is being populated by a new crew... they enjoy the guess what I bought threads.

Why should we impede something that they enjoy? I've repeatedly been annoyed by the choice of amps, pedals, guitars and gear that they like... dumbfounded at the crap they listen to and generally feel alienated by the Amp Forum the past several weeks.

But... it ain't about me... these guys are having a great time and are genuinely developing a sense of camaraderie. It's a younger group of guys and an old fart like me just has to deal with it... I don't think I add anything of real value so it's all good.

I'm just excited that people are getting along so well here. It's a really cool thing and I hope it keeps building where these guys wanna come and hang out together even more than they do now.

The best thing old farts like us can do is try and empower the younger folk.

Keep up what you all are doing here in the Amp Forum. Y'all are the future of this site and I applaud you!!!

its like, the protocol is no matter how BIG or small the purchase is, you must do a "The Guess What It Is" Thread to show your popularity or somethin?!?!?!?!

I mean if I get a new pick its gonna be NPD!!!! guesss what uuuu uddunno oh nooozz... no real content at all after like 20 posts, since there isn't even a review of the gear, just total vacancy and emptiness, very reptilian

That reminds me, I need to get my Bandit out of the garage.

The Bandit is a killer amp. If you can't get a good sound out of it, you might just suck.

Don't pay any mind to Cody, he hasn't been quite right since the incident.

nothing wrong with a little high-fiving and back-patting in a forum of gear junkies. Like the sage said:
