here's the thing. I'm buying new tubes (a full quad of JJs) because the other one was absolutely destroyed. When i was playing it i heard 3 loud pops and then no noise. iI looked back and was horrified by what i saw. One of the tubes was glowing bright red/orange hot. it was literally engulfed in this color. It scared the crap out of me. I shut off the amp haven't touched it since i took out the tube after it had cooled down; which took a while. When i took the tube out and compared to the other tubes it was missing the top piece of plastic that juts from the rest of the tube.

so the question is what else is broken besides the tube. A fuse? Something major? Biasing grids or whatever they're called? Tell me! Obviously something is.

Thanks

Yes, a tech is the only answer. I guess what you saw was the ol "Red Plating". Serious stuff. Can indicate a number of problems. Were you rocking out with the wrong impedance cabinet perhaps? Sometimes you can poke your Output trannie this way, and then the old power tube red plate can result.

But in a word.... Tech.
