In the right guitar, absolutely. Both are on the brighter side, so it would be especially good on a darker guitar or a balanced guitar to help cut through the mix.
I have a similar guitar and it's very dark. But I also have owned similar guitars that were really bright.
What pickups are in it now and what don't you like?
I have the Alt-8 in my present dark guitar of similar build, I like it. I would wonder if the Pearly Gates neck may be a little too low output to balance right. I haven't tried it though. I use a Screamin Demon Bridge in the neck of that guitar and it works really well. I have a coil split too for the Alt 8.
I had EMG 81-85. No longer playing metal - Im playing modern worship with an edge! Need clarity - warmth while slightly dirty for rhythm ( big open chord - in the split pos. But still need to punch solos that really cut through the mix. Emgs are great for that but lacking overall warmth. I tried the JB and jazz in a similar schecter and that was definitely in the right direction just want a little more output- but overall I'm looking for a configuration that will give Clear - bright - warm - tone that sounds good in every position clean or dirty. Everything I listened to and read the Alt 8 in my guy for the bridge - I'm considering th PG for the neck because of the great reviews.
I have the Alt 8 in my Les Paul and it is a beast. Splitting it doesn't get you anywhere near a single coil tone. You barely even notice that it's split, it's still pretty fat.
If there is hot rodded of JB/Jazz, Alt8/Demon would be it. PG is great pickup in the neck but seeing where you come from, Alt8/Demon will deliver clarity - warmth - more output that you're looking for.
