Aluminum pickguard shield (.014" thick) vs aluminum foil for strat

Re: Aluminum pickguard shield (.014" thick) vs aluminum foil for strat

I recently shielded with copper foil my stratocaster and I was surprised because I didn`t need to solder the junctions of the tapes to get continuity. It’s really strange because the adhesive stick of the copper foil I used is not conductive. I tested the conductivity carefully between any part shielded (more than 100 tests) and I get continuity all time. It’s strange and I think that the reason could be that when pressing the tape tightly with the nail some part of the adhesive is moved away giving contact between the copper. Another reason could be that the copper foil is so thin that some little parts can be bent backward involuntary giving a contact (copper – copper) instead of (copper – adhesive).

Anybody has experienced the same thing?
