I tried a few(JB,demon, tone zone, breed, paf pro, wolfgangs) personally and have heard many on recordings and clips.
so far the ONES i did actually try had something about them i did not like?
like for instance the dimarzio's and the wolfgangs had a WAH tone when playing leads? :smack:
the JB was too upper middy but had a lot of things i did like about it
the demon was not at all what i wanted reminded me of a blah version of the paf pro.
is there a duncan that is just neutral? meaning a balanced,un-artificial tone with good power?
i was thinking duncan custom?
for the neck i want a warm tone with some bite for cut and no mudiness? alnico II pro neck?
whatever i go with i hope to god it does not have that wha in the middle tone
:laugh2:

Custom Bridge / PG Neck

This may be more trouble than you want, but have you tried a JB with ceramic mags? Adds a little beef, kind of balancing the high mids. My JB has the 3 ceramic mags from my Invader, and I love it.

I would say Custom or C-5 for the bridge. If you need a fatter bottom or thicker mids, you could try a Rio Grande BBQ or Anderson H2+ or H3.

the c-5 isnt neutral at all, imo, it's got a pretty big lack of mids, high output, and is semi bright

i would think a low output humbucker would be the most neutral you could get... i'm lookin into getting a neutral sounds myself, and have decided that low output pickups generally are just that, neutral. they let the amp's tone come out more than the pickups. so.. maybe a alnico 2 pro?

Only at low bedroom style volumes does it sound like that...

Through a cranked amp it's a differant pickup and really comes to life.

Through my Marshall or 59 Bassman on about 1/2 the C5 does not lack mids.

The C5 wants to rock and sounds anemic played through a 50 watt amp at volume 2 or 3...cranked it comes to life.
