American Professional Jazzmaster

What a beauty! I really love jazzmasters. I must say it's my second favorite guitar behind the L.P.

$2000 though. Kind of steep.

I was very disappointed to see Fender discontinued the Thurston Moore signature jazzy. I have one and I like it so much I was going to buy a second one. That one has antiquity 2 jazz pickups. Beautiful tones. I also replaced the bridge with a mastery. I paid $1600.

Who has the APJ? Is it worth it? Does that mustang bridge have grooves in the saddles for the strings? How are those pups?

I'm interested in knowing what people think about not having the rhythm circuit any more. That's one of my favorite parts of a Jazzmaster, especially for modding.

I really want an AmPro Jaguar/Jazzmaster. Great colors options etc. and they can be made into "real" Jazzmaster/Jaguar (control-wise) without difficulty (although to be honest I'm not a huge rhythm circuit user, it does have its uses... Nice to be able to set it clean and have the lead circuit turned up.)

The Sonic Youth Jazzmasters were never really my taste (though I love them as a band.) It's a tough pick between an American Pro Fender and a G&L Doheny (to me anyway.) Still haven't played any of those.

You know...all of those extra controls I think I can do without. I like simplicity. The Thurston Jazzy has a single volume knob and a pickup toggle switch. That's it. I like the simplified approach of the AP.

Samsung spell check designers can lick my nuts all day.

The sound of the Thurston is something else. Metal pickguard. So bright, clear and thunderous.

I wish my guitar shop had one. They have 300 guitars on the wall but not 1 jazzmaster.
