I've noticed that this is a thing lately, and I actually tried to change the title of my other recent thread but no dice, so I'm making this to share some stuff -- songs that have been in development, or are almost done, or are in a formative state and were forgotten about, imperfect recordings of jams and improvisations I can't quite recreate, and songs that are "done" by my standards that I've been saving. I should probably communicate with Marc before releasing too many of the latter from the Sonl project, but I'll share a few. I'll start by reposting the two I had in the thread I was trying to change:

It feels familiar, like it's someone else's song/melody. Does it remind anyone of another song?

Song that's been very close to done for two years except for one extra instance of a rattle sample I never seem to get around to deleting.

One from the project with Justin that I still intend to add vocals to. I just haven't had time.

Love the bits n pieces! The Em song has a very Smells Like Teen Spirit vibe to me, but that's as familiar as it sounds to me. Interesting chord progression on the last piece and love the slide (Ebow?) work.

Thanks Twilight! I wouldn't have thought smells like teen spirit -- if it's not someone else's melody maybe it's one we should return to and develop. And yes, that is slide used in conjunction with ebow on the last piece. :)

Thanks Vasshu! I plan to sing on that one eventually, probably this summer.

Here is a little ambient excursion I haven't been able to recreate. Some annoying imperfections in the recording... a little bit of clipping and you can hear Marc practically moaning in ecstasy at various points lol. >_< This is one of those clips I have a soft spot for that would otherwise be lost to the archives.

Allowed myself half an hour today to tidy up the mix on a track I've been saving for the Cosmocracy ep. That leaves two more that need revision and I could release the thing. Trickling these out feels kind of liberating, I must say!

The feel and sound on that last song are great retro 80s ... reminded me of many New Wave bands from the early Sire days.

Hehe, not sure that was intentional but thanks nonetheless :D. The "synth" on that song is actually piano run through a fuzz pedal and double tracked like you would with rhythm guitars. I think I was also using a harmonizer effect on the guitar, which probably contributed to the 80's-ness of it.

I have considered this particular piece "done" for quite a long time... two and a half years actually.

Thank you for the follow! I hadn't listened to Date Palms, but I just youtubed them and listened to "Honey Devash" and liked it quite a lot. Very cool analogue synth sounds at the beginning and I liked the minimalism and build.
