amp buzzing, interference Q..

Imp

hey all - whenever someone turns on the halogen lights (with transformers) in the room below, my amp goes crazy with buzz. the buzz only appears when the lights are on, and dipping the lights makes the buzz quieter.

how do i stop it? my dad and i already stuck a length of roofing lead between the amp and the floor, but to no effect. is it a power source issue?

Sorry, but you can't do anything about it. You can try plugging into another circuit to see if that helps.

Re: amp buzzing, interference Q..

I had this problem with the radio on my stereo when I had a dimmer switch in my room. After chaning to a regular on/off switch it got rid of the problem but for halogen lights thats a different story.

Actually come to think of it, it might not be the amp at all but the guitar itself... at least that was the case for me last time i used a friend's Les Paul in a halogen-lit room. A coating of sheilding helped alleviate the problem but didn't get rid of it entirely and using a power conditioner for everything didn't help either.

arses. still, having the amp on a layer of lead makes it easier to slide around on the floor :)

cheers guys
