Sunday my wife and I went to Uptown Whittier to get out of the house and we stopped by this pawn/ music store.

Of the used amps the had there was a Line6 Spider 2 for $179, about the same amount for a new one.

A Marshall JCM800 2204 head for $999.

and this little jem.

So how did the Charvel SS amp sound? What shop is this? I went to one in Uptown Whitter with guitars all over the walls, but not one was reasonably priced. I've never gone back.

By the way, where do you live? I'm in La Habra.

I hate pawnshops like that. I have a pawnshop near my place that's just like that. I went in there and they had this beat up, broken headstock with a crap repair job, Ibanez for $20 less than new. When I talked to the owner of the place and mentioned that one could be had new for $20 more, she said "What are you doing in a pawnshop then?". I thought, "What a great business model". I don't go in there anymore.

I did not check it out just thought it was cool. This was the shop on the northern end of Greenleaf near Hadley.

I live near the 605 off Washington.

yeah, hock shops here are steep too.. Ive gone to many that are asking more than new prices for stuff. Of course they give you nothing for something you wanna sell or pawn. I took a musicians friend cat in once to show them they were asking too much.. They said, can we keep this?? Sure.. went back and some prices were alittle less then new.. haha
A long time ago, after I first got married, I had to pawn a gorgeous Charvel DR3 (first one in Jax with an upside down headstock 1988) and my PV Special 130. they gave me $300 for both and sold the amp for $375 and the guitar for $675. %!#$%!%#@%

Re: Amp find at local Pawn/ Music store

theres a boogie tremoverb 2x12 combo at my local pawn shop for 750. its rough looking but it works perfectly. Fortunately, the owner is a musician and knows exactly what he has. His gear prices are high but not unreasonable.
