AMP GAS 2024

Does anyone own / has owned, or played a Victory Kraken? There's one for sale in a pawnshop here and I'm tempted to pull the plug if I can get a deal. The YT videos I watched are full of praise and I personally like the growl and its raw character. I can live with the shared EQ and with the not so clean cleans and will most likely play it through my Laney 2x12 with G12H 70th Anniversary speakers. Then there's also a 5150 III 50W for sale as well, my head is spinning!
I hear the downside to the original ones is they have no control over the presence. So it's kind of a similar complaint as with Orange, Blackstar, or amps without a presence control. Not so much that they're dark, but that you have no control over the sizzle, so they tend to have a blanket over the speakers kinda vibe to the real high treble. Some people like that, though.

Ah, nevermind. I see you got the 5150. Congrats!
Thanks, it's killer sounding! In the room into the 4x12, on the blue channel boosted and with barely any volume I get this angry biting Marshall crunch & punch that just makes me keep playing, it's very, very fun.

Is it the III? I miss mine. I had the LBX 1, 2, and the 50W 6L6. I was always more of a red channel kinda guy, but the blue was cool too. Nowadays, I use the 5150III model in my HX Stomp, but I wish I was playing the real deal.

Yes, 5150 III 50w 6L6. I like the red too, but it has too much gain for me considering I like to boost it, I have to keep the gain reaaaalllly low for it to stay punchy and clear.

Yeah. It does have a ton of gain. I don't boost the red channel myself. I kinda like it as is. It sorta reminds me of a boosted Rectifier... like, it's tight enough (for me), but it has a little bit of give. I like that. I actually like the regular 6L6 vs. the Stealth because of that. The regular has a bit more give, but it's still tight enough for my liking.

But yeah, the blue channel does take boosts better.

hmm, I´d really love to get hold of a Friedman Dirty Shirley or Little Sister head and a 2x12...short of a lottery win not going to happen, this year anyway.
