Amp idea

Re: Amp idea

I like the switchable idea Scott...any chance your amps can be shipped to Australia :D

I'm about to ship one to Singapore. I just get nervous when they get that far away. If something was to go wrong, it'd be a long trip back.

Interestingly enough, I've only had one amp come back for a repair and it was caused by Fed Ex. I've got a good track record going right now.

I did just buy a step 120v to 230v transformer so I could test out the amp before it ships to Stratman.

Re: Amp idea

I like the switchable idea scott, also a head with channel 1 being a BF twin and channel 2 somewhere between a marshall plexi or whatever the dist channel on the carvil legacy is.

Re: Amp idea

6v6 w/reverb and trem would get my vote. I'd almost shoot for a low-powered version 5-10watts.

Jeremy's idea is pretty appealing!

Re: Amp idea

Scott, how about a tweed Bassman w/ optional reverb, 4- 10'' speakers( comination ceramic and alnico speakers to bring out the qualities of both types). I"ll be glad to be the test pilot.

Re: Amp idea

weber is making an add-on reverb unit chassis that mounts on the inside of the cab and is basically a pre input stage "pedal". It's just wired up to the amp. So you go guitar cord to this unit to the amp. I'm sure you'd wire up the inputs such that the cord was still plugged into the top, but i'm not 100% on it. It's basically the 3 knob Fender outboard reverb shrunk down.

Is there anyway you could add this to a JTM-45 like the Edana?

Re: Amp idea

Scott, either 6V6's OR EL-84's will work, but trying to combine the two is asking for trouble.... been down that road..

Back off Stewie....:laugh2:

I've been bugging Scott for a 2 channel amp, or a higher gain amp for a while now...I don't believe it's in the cards at this point in the game. If it ever is though......I"M FIRST! :6:

Re: Amp idea

Scott, can you build me a Gorilla clone???? LOL!!!!!!!!!

Re: Amp idea

How about 2x6V6 and 2xEL84 in the same amp? Doesn't carr do one like that? Make it switchable? one set or the other or both? That'd be a tweakers delight.

. . . i like the sound of that (punn not intended)

Kinda like the (Mesa) RoadKing of the Celtic Range :smokin:

Re: Amp idea

For those that didn't look at the link I posted above

It's been done: the Mesa Boogie Blue Angel gives you the option of 2 6V6s(15w), 4 EL84s(30w) or both types combined(33w).

Not sure what issues there might be in the build that Jeff Seal referred to, but these were GREAT amps :bigok:

. . . IYO, why do you think Mesa stoped production of the BlueAngel ?
Looks like a winner on B&W ! (?)

Hell, i even LOVE the name of the model "BlueAngel" that is, NOT "mesa" !

Re: Amp idea

In MY OPINION they failed by sticking the Dual Rectifier tag on the front of the amp.

This amp sounds ABSOLUTELY nothing like what you would expect a Dual Rec to sound like.

I'm guessing guys thought it would be a great rock beast & found it to be very clean & bluesy.

I had a head & a 4x10 combo. Both were GREAT amps. Curly & a few others have the 1x12 combo & there are mixed reviews on that one.

Sorry for the side track Scott....I think the idea is great & could be built upon :beerchug:

i modded my deluxe reverbs normal channel to be a good crunch channel. not super high gain but a big boost compared to the vibrato. its not foot switchable but i use an a/b box to switch. im sure scott could build a brenna that does the same trick
