amp impedance

Does anyone know what would happen if i install an 8-ohm speaker in my avt50 marshall amp that has a minimum impedance of 4 ohms? Will it be safe? I'm looking at the eminence range of speakers and they don't seem to have 4-ohm speakers in their patriot/red coat series. Any input from you guys will be very much appreciated.

Yes, you will be ok. your amp may not be as loud or responsive with an 8ohm speaker, but as long as you don't go lower than 4ohm load (speaker load) on your amp, you won't be causing any harm.

+1.. you´ll probably also notice a bit "looser" bottom end and mild attenuated hghs as well

Thanks a lot guys! I really have to ask coz i haven't done any speaker change in the amps that i've had before .
