Amp loudness issues.

I bought a Fender Rumble 100 bass amp a while back. It gives me the tone that I need and it works. The only problem I have with it is that it just isnt loud enough. I need help making it louder. You might be thinking, "why dont you just go buy a good amp?" I cant because my parents are cheap and wont let me buy one, even though its my own money.

I heard that if you get a speaker with a huge magnet that it will be way louder. Is that true? What some other options, if any? Any help would be awesome.

^ A good idea. Also, depending on how much gain you're running, you may owe it to yourself to look into a clean boost.

Re: Amp loudness issues.

The watts required for bass, and those you need for guitar are two different things. A 25watt guitar amp can usually bury a 100 watt bass amp in the typical rock n roll mix. The lower frequancy, large wave length sound, takes more power to push. Also a bass speaker is usually significantly less effcient than the typical guitar speaker.

You could probably replace the speaker with a more effcient bass speaker and solve your problem. A increase of effciency rating at the speaker of 3 db's, is like doubling the wattage of the amp. Counter-intutively, 3db's is quite a noticable difference in loudness too.

Celestion's neo bass speaker series are the most efficient and loudest bass speakers available today. These speakers actually use a special super light weight magnet. Depending on the true effeciency differential to your stock speaker, it could be like tripling your amps power output.

Go to celestion's web site and find out the specs, and compare them to your stock speaker.

100 watts isn't loud enough? Wild. I had a 100 watt Crate bass amp that worked for every gig I ever played it with.

Have you though about adding an extra cab to the existing rig?
Getting another cab will definite increase the volume for you. When I output my amp through my 2x12 the tone is different, but it is louder. Try some cabs at your guitar stores to see if the volume and tone will be good for you.
