Amp output /impedance rating & series wired speakers

If a tube amp's output has an impedance of 16 ohm and its coupled to a pair of 16 ohm speakers wired in series, that would give 32 ohm. I would think that would be OK ? . If the amp is a little loud that arrangement should tame the volume- Some have suggested though that this could damage the amp. I always thought this happens if the impedance of the speakers is less than the amp rating

I would wire them in parallel for 8 ohms and get an impedance matcher instead. Never ever seen a guitar or bass cab wired for 32 ohms. As for amps the lowest impedance output I've seen is 2 ohms on old Ampegs and some bass amps. The highest impedance output I have ever seen on any guitar or bass amp was 16 ohms.

ss amp or tube? in general, matching is always the best idea.

a ss amp rated at 100w @ 16 ohms will give you 50w (or so) @ 32 ohms. if you arent running the amp too hard, itll probably be fine.
