hi guys,
on my vox ac15hw, there is a 1" strip of wood that runs down over the front of the speaker, what does that do????? i am sure you guys know,

all the best, bluesfloyd,

Re: amp question

likely just a part of the speaker baffle, for rigidity, or maybe to protect the speaker cone and dustcap.

Re: amp question

might also block/disburse some of the high frequencies, can help with the beaminess of the highs

Re: amp question

I have the same amp I replaced my 1" strip of wood with mahogany. I am getting a much darker, richer tone. The downside is it added 10 lbs. to the weight of the amp.

Re: amp question

More than likely it's there to prevent punctures of the grill cloth and speaker.

Re: amp question

Whistles

Idk probably a support of some kind

You could have drilled hundreds of small holes in it and weight relieved it.
