Amp selection with a multi-FX floor unit?

My AVT-50 will be gone soon (:blackeye:) , and I'm now considering a floor multi-fx unit (GT6/8, GNX3000 or PODXTL) for recording and home use.

Now, I still want to be able to crank an amp once in a while, so I'll be looking for an amp to go along with it.

Am I better off with something like Tech 21's power engine (or any other type of power amp/cab setting), a good clean SS amp or a tube amp?

Will the tube amp have any "warming" effect on the tone or will it just messs with it? I was thinking of something like a Pro junior or some other small tube combo.

You input is much appreciated.

MultiFX's need a clean clear FULL Range amp and speaker combo.... These FX units are meant for PA's and direct recording for the most part and not guitar amps that will colour the sound.... but a lot of the time a Keyboard amp is the perfect amp for plugging these units into... I know the Line 6 Livext board now has a switch that changes the EQ voice so it can sound good in front of a real amp.... but any modeling amp sounds best into a Mixing Board or a Keyboard amp.... I hear some guys say the Atomic amp for pods sounds good too.....

I'm buying a Keyboard amp for my MultiFX's! Think of a modeling multi FX as a keyboards sound bank.....

Thanks WhoFan... that could be a great option since I'd like to buy a keyboard, mainly to add piano and strings to my recordings, so the amp could be used for the keyboard too.

I should be looking into this.

Thanks!

No probs.... My last band had a keyboard player that switched to guitar for some tunes.... He was sick and tired of taking his Fender combo and all his keyboard racks with him to rehears and play gigs.. so i helped him compact oneday and let him try my POD thru his Keyboard amps.... it was great! His keyboard amp had the XLR connections in the back and he had a bunch of imputs in the front for different keys and the POD... Last i spoke to him he was going to sell his Fender Blues Deluxe combo...
