Would it be worth it to get one for my crate v3112 when i order a new guitar stand? They are like $35 and was wondering if they are that useful?

Thanks

Re: Amp Stands

amp stands basically angle the amp so it projects the sound directly at you.
i'd go for it because (IMO) you get a better + clearer sound as the speakers are pointed towards your ears instead of your knees.

Re: Amp Stands

Well... to my ears, amp stands tends to make the sound unuseable.

It's the same effect as cranking the presence knob, everything sounds much sharper and harder.

I like my amp sitting at the floor ;)

Re: Amp Stands

I much prefer an amp stand... I don't have audio sensors in my knees... and I have a hard time seeing the knobs of an amp on the floor - which is a big help if you need to adjust the EQ because it's not sitting on the floor...

Two words - Milk crate.

A milk crate may not be high enough nor will it angle the amp properly for the needs of the player.

While they're handy and convenient the temptation to use them for other gear is there, and I've noticed an alarming number of times that milk crates have been the vehicle for gear to be walked off with.

Re: Amp Stands

I used to just get to the gig early and swipe a bar stool.:smokin: But that doesn't always fly. So a stand could come in handy . What weight is the $35 stand rated at?

One word- amateurish.
Do you really want to have your gear onstage sitting on a milk crate?
Not trying to dis you, but hey, people pay us money to put on a show, and the closer we can get to looking like a pro band, the more we get booked.

Re: Amp Stands

I have a few very cool amp stands meant for small combos... i use them with my C30 and Fender Deluxe as well as my small Marshall and Peavey 1x12 Extention Cabs... It tilts the amps back like a monitor and they also have a mic boom so you can mic your combo... mine are called Genesis Amp Stands... When i started to use them people kept asking me about where they could get them.... When i stopped using stacks in small clubs these amp stands saved me.... i could hear my small combos and not overpower the PA or other band members...
