Re: Amplifier stand for a Hot Rod Deluxe

does it pack down small enough to fit in the back of the amp?
I could not get a strong enough, small enough stand for my princeton so i made one. Unfortunately the design will only work on blackface/silverface style amps and not on the tweed style of the HRD.
I reckon that ultimate one looks like the best option out there tho. I can tell you from experience that a twin reverb falling off one of those older forklift style stands is not pretty.

Re: Amplifier stand for a Hot Rod Deluxe

So keeping the 50 lb.+ amps close to the ground is probably a good strategy?

Re: Amplifier stand for a Hot Rod Deluxe

I just bought this one and I am very happy with it. I'd easily trust it with a Deluxe Reverb and maybe even a Twin Reverb.

That's the same basic form factor as the Ultimate stand that I linked and already have. I just read a bunch of reviews of the current version of my stand, and I'm not crazy about putting a 50-pound tube amp on it.

I'm considering one of the various types of stands that support the amp more evenly and stably.

This stand is NO slouch. I can tell just by the picture of yours that this one is much sturdier. It is rated for 100 lbs and in the reviews people are saying they use it with their Twin Reverbs. It handles my 45 lb custom built amp with ease.

It's that red plastic part in the center, and the lack of struts connecting the legs. Overall level of heft, too. I think I see how your stand does right on a lot of points where mine gets it wrong.

Re: Amplifier stand for a Hot Rod Deluxe

I use the On Stage combo stand all the time for my Tremoverb both in the studio and at gigs. Never had a problem.

Re: Amplifier stand for a Hot Rod Deluxe

Me too. One for live and one for studio. Handled my AC30 easily. Only drawback is it doesn't fold flat, so not easy to pack in the car.

I mostly use my custom Whitney amp live these days (1x12 combo), so the smaller On-Stage stand works fine for me:

And, as noted up-thread, should it collapse, there's less distance to fall!

Re: Amplifier stand for a Hot Rod Deluxe

i have that first one you linked to and id pass if i were you. its a decent stand but the red locking thing on mine is a little messed up so it doesnt lock into position. it still works, i just need to make sure it didnt rotate before i put the amp on it. ive put 75+ lb amps on it and it was fine so i wouldnt worry about the weight. im not sure how the red thing got busted but it is, therefore id pass.

Re: Amplifier stand for a Hot Rod Deluxe

I got to look at one of these today. It seems decent. It looks like the upper arms are just long enough to catch a good portion of the upper back of my amp. It's height-adjustable, which is a big plus. I think I'd have to stand up to work the controls; they'd be pretty much out of reach from a seated position. Part of the true cost of ownership, you know.

That's the main thing the reviews mentioned about that stand -- about the red plastic part breaking. I bought mine ten years ago, for a Crate VC508 (an 8" 5W tube combo). It's fine for that kind of load.

But with the HRD on it, it seems like it's in over its head.
