Amplitube 3 + expansions: Doesn't sound as good as my free stuff =/

Hey guys who use VSTs often for recording and/or live. Ever since I stumbled upon LePou I've leaned heavily on his amplifier vsts and his cabinet. I don't think I have a surviving recording on the internet where I'm not running his stuff. Great great tones from pristine to saturated using Marshall cabinet impulses into LeCab. I've enjoyed my experience with them so much that I just got a very popular paid-for guitar suite--Amplitube (with Fender, Orange, Ampeg, Soldano, and T-Rex addons). I am having no trouble getting great cleans but trying to crank up anything sounds kind of like ass. Generally I go for very low-midrange mega saturated tones for stuff similar to High on Fire so I expected to get along perfectly with the SLO 100 but so far its kind of "yeah thats servicable but not as good as the LePou setup"

I'm somewhat worried I went for the more gimmicky choice over Guitar Rig--which I will be grabbing tomorrow because why not :smoker:

Edit: I do have to note that Amplitube's models get me much more believable cleans without having to resort to lots of verb/delay

IMO Amplitube blows compared to the LePou stuff, for high gain tones anyway.

Guitar Rig is not too bad, but it's also lacking when it comes to good high gain.

Stick with LePou.

Ah, thank you! I'm glad Its not just me or something. The LePou stuff is serious business in my book

Re: Amplitube 3 + expansions: Doesn't sound as good as my free stuff =/

I really love amplitube. I have many of the add ons. The soldano is what I use daily. The fender pack is real good too.

I use Amplitube as well bit mostly for home practice. The Soldano model is what I use most and also the Slash AFD. Been able to get some good tones out it.

I'd like to try the iRig HD. Have heard it's way better than the original. Amplitube is installed on my iPhone and soon my iPad Mini when I get it.

In addition to LePou's plugins, get all the freebies from TSE and Ignite

Yeah I love Ignite's stuff. I use their TS999 OD religiously--especially in front of the LePou HyBrit. That fat switch just takes the roar to another level

Re: Amplitube 3 + expansions: Doesn't sound as good as my free stuff =/

Been playing with Amplitube extensively today. Seems that getting a tone to just noodle with is fine but getting a sound I would record will take some time I guess. Meanwhile I decided to try out some Ignite VSTs I havent recorded with yet and threw this down. Using The Anvil by Ignite along with their power amp and LeCab2 for the cabinet. Bass vst is another freebie from I don't know where but I use it on everything and love it

Try disabling the speaker on Amplitube and throwing TPA-1 and nadIR or LeCab after it.

Re: Amplitube 3 + expansions: Doesn't sound as good as my free stuff =/

Anybody here use Jamup or BIAS? I hear its pretty good.

Re: Amplitube 3 + expansions: Doesn't sound as good as my free stuff =/

I like amplitube more than Lepoulin for the orange amps! thats not saying much though...

you have to use a different cab for amplitube such as recabinet or redwirez otherwise ya they dont sound stellar

here are high gain songs I used only amplitube on:

Re: Amplitube 3 + expansions: Doesn't sound as good as my free stuff =/

In bias you can modify the amp in many ways. I was able to get my modded JCM 800 pretty quick and dead on. Check it out.

Re: Amplitube 3 + expansions: Doesn't sound as good as my free stuff =/

I just watched some vids of BIAS. Very impressive. I may have to check that out.
