Yeah you don't see many of those. What model is this? Did they make a special run with those headstocks?

That's how the headstock used to be, but Gibson only did it for a short time. Probably out of fear that people would scratch the Epiphone decal off and put a Gibson one on. *shrug*

The nicer Epiphones, usually the hollowbodies, still come with a headstock that's very similar the on the OP's guitar. They are definitely nicer than the standard Epiphone headstock.

Japanese market Epiphones get those headstocks.

Man i cant get enough of this thing! For those of you who don't think older JB's are different than the current production model are wrong. This thing sounds huge, articulate, great balance and more low end than i am used to from a JB. It has that sweetness factor that is hard to describe. I really think the 50s wiring makes a huge difference for the pickup as well. I may do this to all my Les Pauls!
