an amp for metal

Re: an amp for metal

We're talking about metal at low volumes here!
Tube amps don't give up the goods unless you can turn them up, thats way louder than apartement volume even with a master volume! We're talking about super high gain here, cleans can be allright and crunch too at low volume with tubes, but not the metal kind of distortion, no way!

not like I'm lying.

In 93, my only amp was an Ecstasy. That particular one was the most evil amp ever made, period, infinity. It got hauled everywhere. And it sounded just fine for guitar practice in my 44-story condo. No complaints from neighbors. The amp I recommended in this thread is much smaller than that and it sounds superb with the loud-making knobs on .001. And it sure in the ever-lovin' bloody stupid fudge sounds a million times better than any modeler at any volume.

OP, listen to me and try the 6505 112. I love mine. It sounds like the big one. I love my big one, too. $599 with 3-spring reverb. Worth it just for the green channel; it's that good. As a bonus, it has the red channel that made it famous. Sounds great in the middle of the night next to sleeping people and of course it sounds better the more ya turn it up.
