Not necessarily, he's the reason I am into using single coils for metal since he used P90s on the classic Sabbath albums

p90s have a lot more output than a vintage strat pup. about the same as a paf but with a different tone to my ears

I could easily do my gig with a P90 but it would be challenging with a vintage Strat single.
