Hello all, I want to convey my feelings.
I'm bored at work, working on a 401(k) presentation. All day, every day, I'm preoccupied with pickups. I age single coil covers in the coffee here at work. I have pickups shipped here at least every week. Rarely is there such an intricate part of one's tone and lifeblood that can be so easily swapped. I have a soft spot in my heart for Dimarzio because of that fateful winter night back in 7th grade in '94. I installed an X2N into my charvel cx-391 and my life was changed forever. I realized, with a soldering iron and some patience, I had the power to alter my voice, my personality, my life.
if one searches, treasures like the IBZ/USA pickups can be found for $15 a pop. Or, what about those fender USA single coils from reliable fender? Ibanez Quantum? Sure!! Jackson USA pickups? $10?? Sure. hand wound? magnet swap, hell yes!
Since then, I've probably bought, sold, played, shipped, received, wired, repaired, altered, and loved 50 pickups or so. They are all like pets with an intricate personality and appearence. I really want to get some Dimarzio Area '58's. NOW!!!!
Plus, I can't wait for that pizza place to hear my tv jones filtertrons at that solo gig tonight. it will be a surfarifficspyshreddfest. Just wait.
