A somewhat difficult raga to get to play properly. It´s still A/B-tuning and I have constructed the raga-scale from the Karnatak system in Southern India where there are such options. The scale goes E,F,G,Aiss,B,C,Diss,E -which will give two chromatic lines (Aiss,B,C and Diss,E,F), but one should avoid to play chromatic. Instead one can play the scale different up, compared to down. It will sound better.

Yes: inspired by John Mclaughlins first record with Shakti in the mid -70s I read books on indian music and listened a lot on records. And played a lot, of course.

Edit: But I have never had the intention to play Indian classical music like an Indian. I play it my own way.

A while ago I interwiewed a quite famous guitarist, who is well known in Sweden to play Indian music, and who has also studied it at a famous music school in India. I asked him what he saw as the most important difference between Indian and Western music, and he said:

In Western classical music, you must forget who you are.
In Indian music you must remember who you are.

So then, in my humble opinion, I play Indian music the way it should be done.
