Another blue NGD..hmm this one looks familiar..

A string change & raising the pups a bit (had adjusted them down too low) worked wonders for the tone. The strings it came with really were quite dead. Anyway things sound great now..nice and balanced and the honky-ness is gone. :bigthumb:

I have had enough of playing/recording stuff today though..so clips maybe tomorrow.... :p

After the setup it sounds much better.

Well done!!

You've made some really great financial decisions. First, getting out from under a potential disaster/nightmare. Then, taking care of family needs which should be very beneficial for them (and ultimately you).

You are doing things right, and so I applaud your "indulgence". You deserve it. Keep posting pics of your beautiful acquisitions.
I apologize, again, for getting us off on the wrong foot...my bad. You're a good, smart. level-headed man taking care of business and enjoying life. Congrats.

Thanks for the kind words GuitarDoc. Much appreciated though perhaps not really deserved. I'm no financial or organizational genius just a schmuck trying to do the right thing & do what I know my wife would've wanted me to do if she were here (not so sure about the guitar buying spree :lmao: ,,though actually, the truth is she let me indulge a lot of my passions ..it's why I have 6000+ CD's & 40 guitars :p). My kids do come first and always will (as they did for her) ...then I buy guitars :bigthumb:

Raised the action a hair.....tonewise things opened up. It needed some room to breathe..I always feel that when an action's too low (even with no buzz) it flattens/chokes the tone a liitle..

Anyway, it sounds insanely sweet now & yeah, this axe just rips ...shred factor 10 :D. Up there with my holy grail of shred (my '94 Ibanez S540 Ltd) & my new fave fretburner (Ibby SA460). This RG can match them note for note in the speed sweepstakes :bigthumb:

This is the orange, very love it or hate it, but I love it.

I think this is pretty hot!

^^ i can see it appealing to the "prog metal" crowd ...but a bit too modern looking for my tastes personally..

This one on the other hand is more my thing

But I've loved that blue/turquoise finish since I first saw it a few years ago, and though it's pretty common/popular nowadays (someone pretty high up at Ibanez obviously digs it too :laugh2:) ..I'm happy to have finally got my hands on one ....uhh.. I mean ...two :D

Overall Conclusion:

Well here's a side by side comparison....

Prestige

RG 370

Not a huge difference ^^ tbh...the Quantum holds up pretty well against the Tone Zone. There IS a difference but i's wholly subjective. Neither sounds "better" than the other imo. The Quantum's maybe a bit sharper/brighter in the highs while the Tone Zone is slightly rounder highs/marginally warmer & fatter in the mids.

I think the Prestige has a tiny edge when it comes to playability (ie shreddability)..though the RG370 is no slouch either....not by a long shot. (and I certainly have other cheaper guitar's that shred as well as the Prestige) The difference is that nth degree of playability/comfort that perhaps comes from the prestige's neck compared to the RG 370's :bigthumb:.

Physically (according to the specs) it's like a 1/2 millimeter thinner. Does that really make a difference? Or is it the difference in neck finishes? Maybe it's the radius? ..I don't know...but it's definitely there....barely noticeable but there..

Wile the prestige is a fantastic axe with sweet af tone & playability through the roof, so is the RG 370 for less than a third of the cost (comparable tone/playability, with 'almost' as impeccable fit & finish .. though the Prestige does have a slight edge there.).

As far as the difference between tremolo bridges goes, I think the Edge Zero II in the RG370 actually holds it's own just great against the original Edge in the Prestige. Tuning stability is on par as is the feel/comfort & performance...what more can you ask for ..durability/longevity? Time will tell...

While this is the first/only Prestige I own , it certainly isn't the first I've played & my experience with the others has been more or less the same as this one.

Though speaking of finishes. The prestige has a slightly less OTT glossy one than the RG 370 which definitely lends itself to a classier look. It's also sprayed on more evenly so light reflects off it pretty uniformly from any direction unlike the RG370. Also the logo with the MOP inlay & the aluminium truss rod cover with chrome trimming is a nice touch :bigthumb:

And of course the matching headstock...love guitars with matching headstocks :32:

But yeah, none of that affects playability, but still :saeek:

Nice. Love the blue in the OP's post. I have an Agile LP with that color. Case looks like it fits like a glove.

What are the slots in the trem cover for?

Thanks :)

Case is really snug I can barely get it in there with the strap on...

Those are just so you can adjust the trem screws/springs with a screwdriver to align the bridge angle right without taking the trem cover off. A lot of superstrats have them.

After a day spent playing musical chairs w/ the new axes..

Jammed the same thing with the Air Norton in the neck...it's a smooth and shredworthy pickup :bigthumb:

Def time for a nice new backing track now. :laugh2:
