Did you guys know that eddie used the CC on "judgement day"??
on this ONE track eddie pulled out his CC loaded frankie
listen to JD than put on "poundcake"

good god the dimarzio sounds horrible compared to the seymour! :ban:

Yes, it's true. He also used his 5150 Frankenstrat in the new song "Up for breakfast". You'll notice that the tone is a lot different than in "It's about time" or "Learning to see".

Yup, I knew that. I LOVE the tone in that song. The more I use the CC, the more I love it, and that's going on 12 years. There's a good chance all my guitars will end up with it in the bridge.

ERIK i always wondered why that one track sounded so great compared to the other tracks, well he is using a dimarzio on them
the dimarzio EVH custom wound sounds like a broken tone zone on that disc real fizzy, boomy, synthetic :lame:

Compared to that one track, definitely. But, I like the tone on Pleasure Dome and Top of the World too. Poundcake tone is OK but sounds much better live. The tone on that album was an improvement from 5150 and OU812. You can tell on those two that the Marshall was on it's last legs before crapping out.

That explains the even detune in the intro. It sounds much better than when he used in on Summer Nights.

Hmmm, funny how I'm drawn to that one. I wonder why. lol

i hear ya erik, the top of the world tone has real sparkle that that dimarzio will never get :headbang:
pretty sparkly for a alnico II aye?
I get that tone with a CC but i prefer his "ERUPTION" tone

It's all in how it's EQ'd in the end. I can get the CC pretty sparkly too but adjusting the presence on my amp.

I didn't know that! Thanks for the info.

A couple of years ago my buddy Rondo brought over his new Les Paul Historic Plain Top with alnico 2 Burstbuckers and we compared it to my own Les Paul Historic with Tom Holmes HB's and my Hamer Monoco with a Seth neck and CC bridge. I thought the Hamer Monoco with the Custom Custom won the shootout.

lew i dont doubt it at all
the CC is my favorite for a traditional but hotter paf tone just like duncan says here,
description The Custom CustomTM is our SH-5 Duncan CustomTM humbucker with an Alnico II magnet for warm and smooth highs, more midrange, and a spongier bottom end than the SH-5. It’s a good choice for players who need a traditional vintage tone with increased output.

I totally agree with this it is a PAF tone but bigger
