Another DR Pure Blues String Issue!

Re: Another DR Pure Blues String Issue!

As a side note I put a set of Pure Blues on my 335 Thursday and did a gig with them last night...

I love those strings!

I got lucky on that set as they intonated just fine. Killer feel and tone and even after a long sweaty gig they still sound good this morning!

I have used the Pure Blues over the years also and loved them..Hence the reason I wanted them on my LP,but just a bad set..I installed them carefully as per their directions and all...With the D'Addario and the EBs....Just don't have to worry about these kinds of issues, and I'm fine with it!

Re: Another DR Pure Blues String Issue!

I hear ya...I won't switch back. I like the GHS I've been using but I have to order them...only down side!

All of us in our band used to order strings together from juststrings.com and it kinda saved a few bucks on the shipping..I Like that they pretty much have everything!

Re: Another DR Pure Blues String Issue!

I will also say that I've had nothing but positive experiences with DR when dealing with them from a business standpoint.

Thats cool...There are too many strings we can use for me to worry about issues with DR or any other string company..

Re: Another DR Pure Blues String Issue!

Can't offer much, except to say I don't fix what's not broken. D'Addario is cheap, intonates good, and sounds like what I'm used to.

The only time I deviate is when I get free sets, and I try them first on my occasional players. Or I use them for spare singles.

Re: Another DR Pure Blues String Issue!

Normally I use D'Addario XLs on most of my stuff...I needed to re-string my LP and had a set of the DR Pure Blues strings..Figured I'd try them again..Strung em up like the directions,no stretching of the strings etc...The E,A,and D won't intonate...Off quickly come the crappy DRs and back to D'Addario .010s and perfect intonation again! Morale of the story...No more DR strings for me! I've read about this same issue on quite a few forums..Just piss poor quality from DR! I still really like D'Addario and the EB Rock and Roll strings.Just a head's up!

Hmm.. I never had any intonation problem with DR pure blues yet. I used them for a few months, but I just hate the tension (very light ~ round core), I had to set the action very high to avoid fret rattle.
Nowadays I prefer d addario pure nickel or GHS big core, roto pure blues also sounds good once they mellow out from a few days of playing. I'm really curious about thomastik blues sliders, some people say they're the best, but they're quite expensive.
