Another easily impressed Gen Z guitarist...

Right now as far as doom goes I'm loving this second one from Briton Rites,,,(Howie Bentley from the legendary Cauldron Born's other band/project..)

Full of deeply meaningful and true to life lyrics...as they should be :lmao:

Also....I don't get why SS frets are such a huge draw? ....didn't miss them on my guitar's before and don't now either..they feel & play/sound exactly like any other frets I've tried. .

I will never buy another new guitar without Stainless frets. Reason is I'm sick of dressing frets every few years period. Dress a set of frets and they feel great for a little while then slowly not so much. On a regular player I get around 3 years on a dress and about 3 dresses before a refret. With Stainless the frets will likely outlast me. I have kept guitars for over 30 years so--. That plus that glassy smoothness of Stainless is addictive you can get it with standard frets but it doesn't last very long if you play the guitar often.

I don't mind them but I don't really think they're a nessessity either. I've got two guitars w/ SS frets right now (my Schecter w/ a Sustainiac & my Cort w/ Fishman pup's). Feel-wise. I don't get what you guys are saying about the glassiness/smoothness etc. Honestly, they just feel like any of my other guitar's.

Maybe I have'nt been paying enough attention. I don't know. As far as them not needing much upkeep. Well that's a good thing obviously, but again it's never really been that much of an issue for me... I'm not a guy who goes through frets that fast. I've only levelled one guitar (My 30 year old Ibanez S..and just the once & the frets were fine after that)....to date. Maybe i have a light touch or something (?) ..though I don''t think I do.....anyway, like I said I don't mind them, but I'm not hankering after them either.

i like ss frets, mostly cause you wont need to worry about em for a long ass time. fret jobs, even a grind and polish, can be a pita. ss barely wear from my experience

I live in a rural area, and taking it to someone who knows what they are doing is at least 45 minutes away. Even then it's some bros in their 20s at a local shop. I've found out that a lot of people say they know what they're doing and then another luthier looks at it and says it's a bad job.

I feel better just sending a guitar off to Sweetwater for anything serious, but that's expensive just for the shipping.

So I keep a bunch of guitars but don't play any of them overly much. My oldest guitar I bought new is a 96 and I have a 94 Warlock around here somewhere. Frets don't look too bad although they could probably be a little taller by now.

i have a pretty heavy fretting hand so i can eat up soft/small frets pretty quick. i can do the work myself if need be, but its easier to use ss frets and not worry about it

I would like to try SS frets.

My fretting hand is not too strong. But my right hand is, and I tend to indent the strings' windings on the first few frets from beating on chords and whatnot.

However, I've never owned a guitar more than... what... ten years. But I've never felt the need to refret a guitar.

However, I do notice that frets on Epis or Squiers are way softer than Gibson, Ibanez Prestige or even LTD.

Playing a couple hours a day, if you just have one guitar I'd be surprised to get more than five years before a fret dress is necessary, and probably another three years after that before they need a second dressing. At that point the feel of the guitar starts to change.

I used to play a couple of hours a day back when I was unemployed. These days, I'm lucky if I play 5-6 hours a week. :(

lol whole lotta ageist comments itt

the vid in the original post is certainly a paid shill but I'm not sure why that means gen z has some sort of monopoly on hype. the video is as interesting to me as a rick beato "thinkpiece", which is to say, not at all interesting. that guy would be a better fit pouring my water at olive garden than telling me about "the greatest 40 songs of all time". and I say that as Gen x
