Another Edana comes to life tonight....

There is absolutely nothing more pleasant than to fire an Edana up for the first time. Quiet as a mouse fart. I tried the TAD 12AX7 (chinese) preamp tubes this time. They sound pretty much the same and the other chinese tubes I've been using. Just figured I'd share.

That's good to hear Scott. How long does it generally take you to build a single Edana?

Also, TAD tubes... does the TAD stand for "Tube Amp Doctor" tubes? I've heard that but I wasn't sure if they were the same brand; I'm assuming so?

Affirmative on the TAD.

On build time, you know, I'm not really sure. I just work on them in my spare time, a few hours here, a few there. If push came to shove, and I had all the parts, I could knock one out over a weekend. Each time I build one, the wiring gets neater and I find myself completing them faster.

Hey Scott, have you ever considered your hand at an 18 watt Marshall clone? I've been listening to some lately and so far my favorite is the Reinhardt. Very cool sounding amp.

The day someone asks me to make one, I will. Just waiting for the right opportunity.

I wonder, have you heard much difference between each one you make? Any one you dig more than all the others, or are they all pretty much the same circuit and the same tone alltogether?

Im still lovin' mine too btw. :)

They're all the same for the most part. I've gotten away from putting that mini-switch in for an EL34 bias resistor. It got to be a pain and it's just as easy to go in and just change the resistor. Also, that preamp mod I did to yours was a one-of-a-kind. Since it didnt' make any real difference in the tone, I saw no reason to continue it. Yours is the first and most unique of the bunch. But tone-wise, they all sound just like yours does.

hey, it wasn't broke, so I ain't going about fixin' it. :)
