Another Fiddle Sale!!! Godin Content...

I picked this up for a pretty good price because it had been hanging on a wall for the past 15 or so years & the guy needed to pay a fine. Godin guitars are made here in Berlin NH, I know they claim to be Canadian but the reality is they are made in the USA, about a half mile from my house! I should know because I worked there for a few years!

Anyway, around X-mas they raffle off a guitar and this was one of those. Fortunately the guy that won this one has absolutely no idea how to play so as far as the neck, frets, Exc. they are just as good as the day he brought it home! It was pretty dirty so I've spent the past several hours cleaning it up and I also gave it a tune up & a new set of strings. That's really all it needed? It plays beautifully & sounds great!!!

Very unique design, it's got a chambered Maple body and beautiful Rock Maple neck so I guess technically it's a semi-hollow but it plays like a Strat with really good action!!! The two low noise Godin S.C. pickups are always on & the guitar doesn't have a switch, just two volume knobs & a shared tone knob but it allows you to blend the neck & bridge puppies together or turn them off, well I guess down? I guess the best way of describing it would be a Tele/Gibson/Gretsch/ Duo Sonic Hybrid???

I'm not overly crazy about the mirrored guard as it shows you're fingerprints and I currently have a friend trying to track down a nice white pearl one for it, he said he thought he had some but he wasn't 100%? Either way I'm pricing it so I get what I spent on it back, covering the shipping, & just a few extra bucks for my effort, still well under market value!!! Remember, it may not look like it but the guitar has almost no playing time on it!!! If I could afford to, I would definitely keep it but I thought about you guys when he offered to sell it to me so here you are...

P.M. with any questions or if you want better pics, more info, Exc...

$250 shipped & I'll eat the P.P. fees...

This must be an all time first, you're finally selling an item that I don't want or need!

Alright, so my buddy was able to find a non-mirrored guard! He said its brand new & still has the plastic film coverage on it. I'm quite sure this will make the guitar much more aesthetically pleasing. Plus with that mirror guard you basically have to wipe down the body after every use because it makes everything show up & POP! Your fingerprints and the oil from your skin end up making it look dirty and I'd imagine it would scratch up with use pretty fast as well?

I'll include a stock photo below so you can get a better grasp of what it will look like with the new guard & of course I'll post some pics of the actual guitar once I go pick up the new guard & get it put on the Radiator...

Both guards will be included, they can easily be cut to fit full size Humbuckers, P-90's, & I'm reasonably sure that it would already take mini-buckers now without modification? You definitely don't need to worry about the route, as you can see! Whatever puppies you want to use will have plenty of room to fit!!!

(SIDE NOTE) The spots that look like chips in the paint at the bottom are not. They're just from the flash on my phone. The guitar has no dings, chips, scratches, or anything else worth mentioning.....

Lol, I actually saw one online last night that had a sound hole cut in between the two pickups & several more with other cool mods. Honestly I kinda liked it, obviously not for everyone & I've got no idea of what, if anything, it would do to the overall tone of the guitar? But because you'll have both guards it should allow you to modify one & keep the other stock in case you decide to sell it, switch it back, or just mess it up while modding....

Pictures of the guitar with the new guard...

The plastic film is still on it, couple that with the fact that the guitar has never been played & you end up with a near vintage basically new guitar? LOL!!!

I'm going to leave it up for another week or so and if it hasn't sold by then I think I'm just going to keep it. The more I play it the more I like it & I've got all kinds of ideas of what I could do with it running through my head, not that I can afford to do them now but....

There's a lot of potential for mods & the new guard makes it look gorgeous & I mean look at that action! All Godin's have great necks, it one of their best qualities but this one is just plain amazing!!! Super low action without a hint of fret buzz, most shred sticks don't have playability like this!!!

Godin guitars are assembled some models in Berlin New Hampshire from parts crafted in Godin's original facility in La Patrie, Quebec, Canada. There are 5 factories in Quebec. The new line of electrics Richmond are made in Canada and are assembled in Canada and Berlin New Hampshire. Godin also has their acoustic lines as well under the brand names which include Seagull, Norman, Simon Patrick, La Patrie, and Art&Lutherie Which are made in the Canadian plants.

Yes, that's correct for the most part....

So I think I'm going to be keeping it guys? The more I play it the more I like it & I've already started modding the old guard. Only as a mock up guard for now so I can stick a full sized humbucker in the bridge and hear what it sounds like afterwards. Eventually I may cut the neck out for a P-90 but the Godin S.C. will work for now, it's a little dark but I'm dropping in 500K pots so hopefully that will wake it up some???

I removed the mirror stuff with a palm sander & hit the back of the cleared guard with some flat black spray paint. In hindsight black wasn't the best color choice because aside from the mirror it shows flaws better than just about anything else! This one is only for trying out pickups and harnesses anyway. If I get it to where I really like it I'll cut the black and white pearl guard the same way using this one as a template. Should make a pretty cool little Blues Box when it's all done???
