Another Melodic Guitar solo from my band's upcoming EP (Rough Demo)

Another solo for another song off my band's upcoming EP. (really rough mix )

This time I used my VISA distortion Pedal (at the start for some fat bluesy vintage neck tone) & neck pup (Blackout neck) along with my Mooer Ana Echo, Mooer Pitch Pitch Box & Damnation Distortion Pedal --> Behringer Ultra G DI Box --> Zoom MRS 1044 Digital multitrack Recorder.

2 Tracks L/R from my Bugera 333XL Infinium Head/Cab for Rhythm (No bass/vocals yet)

Another great solo! Very hard to hear with all that mud on there; the lead should have a high pass on it and scuplt out the tubbiness around 4-500Hz; this will increase intelligibility on the solo. As it stands now, it all kinda gets lost in the sauce (I know, this is just the rough).

I'm not hearing anything "melodic" here... Melodic and dissonant don't go together. But some nice playing.

Point taken...& thanks! Definitely not saccharine sweetness but it does have some dissonant dark-melody going on..

I play in a doom-death metal band so... King Diamond's Andy LaRocque or James Murphy (mixed with my own thing) ..that's the general vibe I go for if your familiar with those guys..

And yeah, this is super rough. That last solo I posted had the bass in there (mixed in low with the backing drum track) & the drums had been processed a bit too..so they were (comparatively) pretty slick. This new clip was played with a raw drum scratch track..very quick/basic 2 minute mix for the monitors & the double bass/kicks are interfering with the other tracks/muddying things up. (there's constant mid-paced/fast double bass right through the song but you can't hear it because of the frequency overlap with the guitars).

Also this solo is played lower down than than the last & that VISA pedal is really warm/open/fat ..but I think it'll sound cool when it's all filtered/cleaned up..

I agree; it's a KILLER solo. And yes, it still qualifies as melodic metal, tho it's more technique driven than melody ... I keep going back to Skolnik cause your playing reminds me so much of his, esp the vibrato ... as opposed to super melodic soloists, like Gilmour and Lynch.

HUGE LaRoche fan here as well!

Thanks man..I'm totally flattered haha. Skolnick is definately a huge influence & all round guitar GOD ..as are Murphy & LaRocque...also Tommy Vetterli (Tommy T Baron) from Coroner ..they all really combine dissonance & melody in an incredible way. Though I'm a huge Malmsteen fan I just don't have the patience/discipline for Neoclassical stuff..so he's more inspiration than actual influence...haha.

Yeah I'm with ya I have an 80's melodic style but if you throw in harmonic minor, diminshed etc it definitely darkens things up!

Yeah I'm with ya I have an 80's melodic style but if you throw in harmonic minor, diminshed etc it definitely darkens things up!

Yeah, I saw your video man...nice to see someone shred like the 80's never went away I'm a total 80's metal fan too...love that stuff...

The solo's been cleaned up ..far less mud & it stands out better now.....pretty happy with the way it sounds
