Another modeling amp question

I'm sure that this has been covered many times and I'm sorry to bring it up again if so but I am in need of a modeling amp and I know you guys can help.

i have decided on a modeling amp for recording reasons, I dont play guitar in a band, but I do want a lot of flexibility, and I dont need anything that will blow the roof off.

My dilema is distortion, I want more than I would need (although for some things that may not be possible :) but I want good tone as well, not just fuzz or mush....

I am considering the Vox Valvstate combo with the neodog speaker, ( although I've heard the speaker is named appropriately ) or some of the Line 6 stuff....another option is some kind of floor unit through that tube power amp/speaker system...( I forgot the name but I'm sure someone knows what i'm talking about...)

Tell me what you guys think...and sorry for the repeat post..

Scott

Oh by the way I would like to stay in the $600 - $700 range but would wait and save if it were REALLY worth it...

If it's strictly for recording, why not go with something like a POD? Most modelers probably record better with their speaker sims than with miked speakers.

Good point but i like to have an amp when I practice and I will be doing some jamming with other people as well. Although that certainly would be a cheaper alternative.

The Valvetronix AD30VT or AD50VT might be another option. I think you can adjust the wattage on them to suit different purposes. Like most products talked about here, some love 'em and some don't.

+1 and they have a line out/headphone jack so you don't have to mic them to record.
