Another newer and another older recording

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share two more songs here. The first was recorded in 1985 in a studio on 8-tracks. I'm only playing the guitar on this one, and you can hear that the studio wasn't into layering or getting a big sound. I didn't care at the time because I was thrilled just to be in a studio, ha ha. We recorded the main guitar, bass, and drums together, and the vocals and two other guitar parts were recorded separately. I was using a Marshall JCM 800 halfstack (1981 model) and my 75 Les Paul that had super distortions at that time.

I recorded this one about three and a half years ago with the bass player from the above band. We're still great friends, and I love his solid playing style. The bass in the beginning is a synth sequence, as are the drums, keys etc... This one is me singing, and I recorded the guitars through a custom built all handwired 59 Bassman clone (2x12 tweed combo!) and a Vox Bulldog pedal. Ooooh, do I wish I didn't have to sell that amp! With the Bulldog or a Plexitone, this was the best sounding amp! All by itself it rocked just as well, but with no master, it was too loud for jamming, ha ha. The little solos in the beginning that have all the feedback were done with just my little 1965 Univox U45B and a Charvel 375. No boxes, nothing. The feedback was all natural and I think, pretty cool! For the main crunch guitars I used my 68 Epiphone Casino (JB bridge) for one track and my 75 Les Paul which had Antiquities at this moment in time. Can you tell how much I love equipment, lol. I hate the guitar solo in this song, mostly the tone. I'll redo it one day.

that first song is killer!!! I love the guitar sound! the vox fit perfectly!!! nice work man.

Re: Another newer and another older recording

Thanks Cream. That Vox pedal was a pretty powerful pedal with the right amp. It sounded so good the darn thing nearly played itself.

These are both good songs. Rain is a bit long but I could hear that on the radio. I like what you do, you have a quality in your performance, as rough as it may be. Most of what I've heard of yours could easily be turned into polished songs.:cool2:
