I posted about 2 weeks ago about a strat I just picked up. It’s definitely a start for someone playing mild music and not someone with a lot of focus on aggressive styles. The humbucker in the bridge sounds alright but I want something that does really good for heavier playing styles with a strat.

I was thinking about changing from HSS to HH. I want low mids and single note articulation. I don’t really care if it’s medium output or high. I also don’t really need recommendations for the neck PU as I’ll just do the normal, 59, Jazz, or A2P.

In the bridge I was thinking like I said in my last post a C/59 or C5. I have been open to other pickups as well. I don’t really do cleans that much but I would like something that splits well and will sound good with the volume rolled back.

If you have an idea on something that might work well for me let me know. I’m mostly playing rhythm guitar with a lot of palm mutes, power chords, and hammer ons and pully offy chuggy chug stuff. Lol

I’ve thought about the regular custom but I am not sure about the amount of treble it has. I’ve always seemed to think that it has a lot of high end. I mean I guess so does the Custom 5 does too.

I have a C5 in the bridge of my Strat right now. It's extremely versatile, and has a lot of bite, will definitely do the chugga-chuggaz.

Pretty sure I'm going to go back to SSS, if you're interested my C5 may be up for sale/trade soon.

I'd think a Hybrid will do what you want. It splits well, and sounds better at more gain ranges than a regular Custom. It also may blend better with a vintage-output neck pickup.

Either the C5 or c/59 will be fine depending on your particular tastes. Both have a scooped sound but the C/59 is a little bit brighter. Of those two, for what you describe I would lean more toward the C5.

However, you say you want more lower mids, you don't do cleans but you want it to split well. I would recommend the C8. It's got a bit more mids, has good articulation, isn't quite as bright as the other two but has a really good top end, and (in my opinion) splits a little better than the others...and sounds great split, I might add.

Well, power-wise, just fine. But they are very differently-voiced, with the APH-1 being mid-centered, and the Full Shred being very bright and not much else. So it just depends how you plan to use them.
