Another Phat Cat mag swap thread.

Re: Another Phat Cat mag swap thread.

But how do you keep the pickup together and put it into the guitar without the cover?

I would drill holes in the bobbin (and baseplate), one between the low E and A and the other between the B and high E, and screw the bobbin down to the baseplate. This is how it's done with real P90's, don't know why it wasn't done with the Phat Cat unless they wanted such mods to be risky for some reason.

Re: Another Phat Cat mag swap thread.

I bought Phat Cats with no intention of using the A2's. I put an A5/A4 in the neck and A5/A8 in the bridge and loaded them in my 2011 Std SG. The neck is awesome but the bridge was not. It was nasally and thin. The magnet orientation was correct and lowering and raising the pup didn't do much. I put in a 498 with A2's and that paired up well with the neck pup.

I really think the Phat Cat pairs up nicely with a Humbucker in the bridge (had mine paired up with a Pearly and it was a great combo.)
