Another Princeton thread

At the risk of aggravating somebody close by, almost all the parts for my Tweed Princeton (5F2-A) project are here :D I'm only waiting on the cab from Mojo to arrive. Actually, it's a "Harvard" cab - just a little bit bigger than the vintage-accurate Princeton.

The power transformer is a massive black beast from Mojo.
The stainless steel chassis is from Weber, along with the 10" 10A100 speaker.
Pat Bunn of STF Electronics pulled the kit together for me, and all of the components appear to be top quality (except I could pass on the "vintage" cloth covered wire - Teflon would be much nicer)

There's a funny bit of trivia about the cab. Bruce Collins from Mission Amps told me that the Mojo cab is an exact replica of the Harvard practice amp that his brother Lew played through when he was getting his first electric guitar lessons in Detroit (location?). Yep, that would be our brother Lew! Apparently they found the amp years later and at some point sent the cab to Mojo to get the exact specs for construction.

Wish me luck on this crazy project!

Chip

P.S. It's not Blackface and it won't have reverb, so you-know-who doesn't need to be jealous.

Just call it era correct :)

Re: Another Princeton thread

I have a Tweed Princeton sitting on my bench waiting for me to get to it. It's a combo of to versions, the choke from the 5F2 and the tone control of the 5F2-A. MM transformers and a weber 10A100 speaker.

Cool deal bro...Tweed Princetons are cool amps. Tweed Champs are cool but the 8 inch speaker makes them sort of small sounding and they lack bottom...with a bigger speaker and a bigger cab you should have a large sounding amp that would be great for jamming alone and recording!

Re: Another Princeton thread

The cab came in today from Mojo and it looks great! Pine sides, finger-joined corners, 3/8" plywood baffle (looks floating - only screwed on top & bottom), leather handle and very nice job on the tweed.

Oh, and Pat Bunn at STF has been great about answering questions already. This is my first amp build and I like to figure out as much as possible before starting any project, so there've been lots of questions already ;)

Why do I have to work instead of starting this amp project?
