Another question on Strat wiring.

Hi all. I am usung my 2008 MIA strat as a guide somewhat to wire mywarmoth/UASCG strat and was wondering what one particular wire was for. It is a wire from the volume pot that is soldered to a terminal or connector which is screwed into the wood. I have not seen anything like this. Is it a ground of some sort ?? I thought a ground was always to metal. Or what is it for if not a ground why is it needed. I just want to make sure I get my wiring right the first time with not goof ups.

Tanks as always.

Re: Another question on Strat wiring.

One of my Ibanez S guitars had the same thing going on, except it was screwed underneath the middle single-coil pickup. When I removed it to make the pup sit a bit better I started getting an ungrounded buzz going on when I touched the metal. I can't say for sure about your guitar, but that's what my guess is based on.

That guitar had one ground to the middle pup and one to the trem in the back.
