Another Quick DITTO Review

Re: Another Quick DITTO Review

It was waiting for me when I got home from work last night but I had company and today I'm leaving town.

I played with it for about thirty minutes. The sound of the loops is very true to the original and the switch is great. I have a Boss RC-2 and I always had problems timing the start of the loops. The Ditto is great in that regard. I need to learn how to erase it though without first going through a step where it plays the loop.

Even after hearing about how small it is I was still surprised.

It was late last night so I really couldn't blast through it. When I return to town I'll try it with some distortion etc. Clean tones are, as I said, reproduced accurately. I may try to do a demo when I return from my road trip.

My very limited experience has already convinced me that it was money well spent.

The bottom of the case is attached with Allen screws.

Are you running the ditto up in front or in the effects loop?

Can't speak for Laz, but I run mine very last in the loop. That way, I can turn stuff on and off in front of it, and it won't affect the signal being passed through. In other words, there's no processing on the repeated signal.

I'm running mine last in my pedal chain all before input to the amp. I am not using my effects loop at all. Maybe I'll get to experiment with it more tomorrow.

Re: Another Quick DITTO Review

Shameless bump for an addendum to my review.

I do a little recording into Reaper and listening to the tracks I lay down is always eye-opening. On rare occasions I hear something good and wonder how to do it again, but more often I am disappointed with my timing. Especially, when I am improvising, I hear gaps and late starts that scream where am I going now.

That said, with the Ditto, I am able to hear the those types of mistakes "live", erase and re-record with a great deal of ease. There is something about taking a test and getting immediate results that promotes learning. This pedal is really fun and I can see how my playing will benefit from using it. I definitely want to master it for live use. It is fully capable. Well, the Pigtronix unit would probably suit me better for live use, but I'm in no position to lay down that kind of coin right now.

I loves me Ditto.

Re: Learning Enhanced by Immediate Feedback - This was confirmed in a double blind experiment back in 1971 when I was a clinical psychologist. The results were statistically significant. Press me for details and I will bend the truth even further.

I want that pedal if I can save up to build a pedaltrain nano for open jams at bars in the next few years
