another SD Pickup Booster praise post...

Re: another SD Pickup Booster praise post...

Cool :) I have not tried it with p90s but it is great with my single coils. The boost is very large but not noisy.. it's a keeper.

Re: another SD Pickup Booster praise post...

It this pedal like a clean booster? or a treble booster?

Also, how does it work with Humbuckers?

Thanks

Re: another SD Pickup Booster praise post...

How do you guys feel the resonant frequency shift works? Can you get HB tones from a single coil?

Thanks for the info.

Any idea how much they sell for used and brand new?

Cheers

Lets say "humbucker-ish". The resonant switch makes a single sound like a humbucker about as much as splitting a humbucker makes it sound like a single. Its in the ballpark. ;)

it works well ...
yup, the idea was to get HB tones by shifting the resonant frequency

the switch is 3 way .. IIRC, middle is "neutral" , for use with HBs as a clean boost, then up or down are 1/ up, which is HB sound from a SC, and 2/ down, which is "hotter HB" tone, I think

sorry, it's been a while since I used mine .

Re: another SD Pickup Booster praise post...

The resonance shift is my favorite part of the pedal. It makes my tele sound a bit like a tele :D but with a low output humbucker. My BG-1400 single coil tone becomes a sound that's a cross between a PG and a Seth Lover with the function engaged.

I have little demo of the booster posted in the pickup lounge.

Re: another SD Pickup Booster praise post...

Yeah. the switch fattens the single coil up a bit, and takes a bit of ice-pick off. But I wouldn't go about saying that it makes a single sound just like a bucker. Just a bit though.

I find it's almost more than a clean boost, it just seems to make my guitar sound a bit dull-ish when i switch it off. That's to say: when its on, you get spoilt, when you take it away, you miss it. Lets me hit the valve front end with just the right amount signal. And valves seem to have just this area of gain level where it sounds sweet.

Yet somehow, lifting the level with an overdrive pedal doesnt sound quite as good. ramble. joy-pedal...

Stevo,
Can you post a link of your demo?

Thanks,

do you guys constantly keep it on or just for the leads ?
I think I'm going to use it for the purpose of a backup. I like to have my LP and tele at gigs. With this unit I can backup my Les Paul with my tele if I have to - that saves me from bringing a 3rd guitar.
